Sunday, January 22nd is Lunar New Year, also known as the Spring Festival in China, the Tết Festival in Vietnam, and Seollal in Korea. Lunar New Year is a one of the most important holidays for members of the Chinese, Korean, and Vietnamese communities. This year, we welcome the Year of the Rabbit in Chinese and Korean culture and the year of Cat in Vietnamese culture.
Happy New Year greeting in Chinese is “新年快樂” pronounced (Mandarin) Shin Nian Kui Le! (Cantonese) Shen Ning Fay Lok!
In Korean the greeting is 새해복많이받으세요! pronounced Seh heh boke mahn hee bah deux sayo!
In Vietnamese the greeting is Chúc mừng năm mới!
