Applications are now open for Canada's Disaster Mitigation and Adaptation Fund
January 17, 2023
Canadians are experiencing record-breaking and increasingly frequent climate events – from wildfires to extreme heat waves to floods – across the country which can cause damage to infrastructure, impacting public health and safety, interrupt essential services, and have a significant impact on the economy.
Through the Disaster Mitigation and Adaptation Fund (DMAF), we are investing in Canada’s future. Making adaptation investments now will have major economy-wide benefits later. Every dollar that is invested in adapting and preparing for climate related disasters can save up to 15 dollars in future costs.
Applications are now open and over $1 billion in funding is available to support structural and natural infrastructure projects that will help increase the resilience of communities to future natural disasters triggered by climate change.
