We've launched our Critical Minerals Strategy
January 16, 2023
The critical minerals that we have right here at home – from nickel to lithium to aluminum – are the building blocks of a clean future, powering our transition to electric vehicles and clean technologies. That’s why our government launched Canada’s historic $3.8 billion Critical Minerals Strategy.
As the world accelerates the transition to a net-zero economy, whether it's nickel in Sudbury, Ontario or aluminum in Kitimat, British Columbia, our critical minerals sector will help drive economic growth and create good, middle-class jobs that workers can rely on. When electric vehicles are made from Canadian minerals, assembled by Canadian auto workers, and powered by Canadian-made chargers we secure and create jobs, grow our economy, and keep our air clean now and into the future.
