16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence
November 23, 2022
November 25th marks the beginning of the
16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence (GBV), a campaign that aims to bring people together across Canada and around the world, encouraging them to fight against all forms and facets of GBV.
Gender-based violence is one of the most widespread, deadly and deeply rooted human rights violations of our time, and the Government of Canada remains committed to preventing and responding to it. We all have a role to play in ending this cycle.
This year’s theme, “It’s Not Just”, is two-fold. On one hand, it highlights the injustice of GBV and, on the other, how our society tends to turn a blind eye and minimize the problematic behaviours that contribute to this issue. The 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence (GBV) is an important opportunity to raise awareness about the long-term impact that this life-threatening form of abuse can have on individuals, families and communities.
