This November celebrates and marks the first federally recognized Hindu Heritage Month.
According to the 2021 Census, in Brampton Centre 12,940 people, more than 12% of the population reported an affiliation to Hinduism. That number for the country as a whole was close to 830,000 people, or 2.3% of Canada's total population.
In October 2022, following the unanimous adoption of a Private Member’s Motion by Liberal Member of Parliament for Nepean Chandra Arya, the House of Commons officially designated November as Hindu Heritage Month.
Throughout November, we encourage you to recognize the contributions that Hindu Canadians have made to the socio-economic development of Canada, their services to the Canadian society, and the richness of Hindu Heritage.
