Banning Harmful Single-Use Plastics
June 20, 2022
Plastic pollutes our lakes, rivers, and oceans, and many Canadians are rightly concerned. We made a promise to Canadians to ban harmful, single-use plastics. Now, we’re delivering.
Today, Ministers Guilbeault and Duclos announced regulations to ban six kinds of single-use plastics that are harmful to the environment and have readily available and recyclable alternatives.
These regulations will keep our communities clean and healthy, while providing the sustainable alternatives to plastic packaging that Canadians are increasingly asking for.
We are also moving to eliminate plastic waste by 2030. Canadians demanded strong action to protect the environment, and that’s exactly what we’re delivering.
