Immigration to Canada requires proof of either English or French proficiency. The IELTS test remains one of only two tests for proof of English language skills for economic immigration purposes in Canada by IRCC, and the only English test used for Student Direct Stream applicants. Today I met with representatives of the three partner organizations who manage IELTS to discuss making the test more accessible and convenient while maintaining its quality.
